Our unseasonably dry weather has made it possible to tackle many outside/garden tasks before the other foot (known as torrential northwest downpours) drops. Daffodils have been pushing up through the dirt for several weeks now, and I think my garlic started coming up in December.
Starting any job near dirt, or any task, really, almost guarantees that I will instantly have willing helpers (who both think socks and coats are optional) underfoot. I do my best to work around them *patiently*.
The chickens have scratched up our front flower beds quite nicely and I used some free brick to build the area up to a height that will hold enough dirt for plants. I want to fill these beds with shade-loving plants, since this area gets little to no sun.
Have you been able to get more things done outside because of drier weather this winter?
