Halfway through our first CSA season, and the items in our box are looking like standard summer fair, although I would like a few more cucumbers. The fava beans still need to be used, but we ate up most everything else. A new tradition began last week as part of our “unloading the CSA box” ritual. FB, who usually will not touch any tomatoes that I put on his plate, picked up a fresh tomato from the bag and proceeded to eat the entire thing like an apple. Spud (who actually likes tomatoes) couldn’t be shown up by his younger brother, so he followed suit. There’s no two ways about it–garden fresh tomatoes just taste better than store-bought.
